West End revival of Me and My Girl in 2014

Theatre NewsProduction company Fiery Angel is intending to bring the musical Me and My Girl to London in winter 2014/2015. The company previously toured Me and My Girl around the UK in 2006 and subsequently produced the show at Sheffield Theatres in 2010.

Fiery Angel is a co-producer of The Ladykillers, currently running at the Vaudeville Theatre in the West End, and also The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theatre.

Executive producer Edward Snape stated that the government’s tax reforms for entertainers, which mean companies will no longer pay National Insurance contributions on their employees’ earnings, was an important factor in the decision to bring back the musical.

Producers have predicted that the changes will result in the staging of more ambitious plays, and musicals with bigger casts.

Snape said: “What will be good is, for instance, I’m contemplating producing a musical and I’ve normally been doing plays – such as The Ladykillers and The 39 Steps – and it will mean that producers will see anything that employs larger numbers as more attractive.
