Les Miserables

From its opening in London in October 1985, the production captured the imagination and enthusiasm of audiences. The musical is set in 19th century France, with an amazing score.

Les Miserables Summary
Jean Valjean, who is released on parole after nineteen years on the chain gang, realises that the yellow ticket-of-leave he must, by law, show when he is out, condemns him to be an outcast in society. Valjean discovers a friend in The Bishop of Digne who treats him well, and Valjean who is embittered by a life-time of hardship, ‘repays him’ by stealing some silver. Valjean is captured by the police and brought back to the Bishop, and is he is astounded when the Bishop lies in order to save Valjean, and also in addition giving Valjean two valuable candlesticks. From this moment, Valjean decides to start his life afresh. The story is driven by passion and courage, and together with fabulous music, has resulted in the world-wide success of Les Miserables.
