Stephen Ward The Musical – music from the show
Stephen Ward was the free-living high society osteopath who introduced the major protagonists to each other, in the government-toppling 1963 Profumo sex-and-espionage. The musical that carries his name puts Ward’s account forward, and discloses that it was he, not discredited Minister for War John Profumo, who was the actual victim of the affair.
Stephen Ward, wtih music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by playwright Christopher Hampton and lyricist Don Black, previewed at the Aldwych Theatre on 3rd December 2013 with press night on 19th December 2013.
