At the New London Theatre, home of Michael Morpurgo’s renowned War Horse, the National Theatre’s celebrated stage production has today, 2nd February 2015, released more than 150,000 new tickets for sale taking bookings for the West End production to 13th February 2016. Now in its eighth year, and having now been seen by over 6 million worldwide, a new cast of 26 actors and 12 puppeteers join the company on 16th March 2015 led by the show’s equine star Joey. War Horse recently completed sell-out dates in South Africa visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town and has now returned to the UK where it will complete a record-breaking national tour in Bristol next month.
War Horse is directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, designed by Rae Smith, with puppet direction, design and fabrication by Basil Jones and Adrian Kohler for Handspring Puppet Company, lighting by Paule Constable, and movement and horse choreography by Toby Sedgwick, with video design by Leo Warner and Mark Grimmer, songmaker John Tams, music by Adrian Sutton and sound by Christopher Shutt.
At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

A Chinese-language production of War Horse will open in autumn 2015 at the National Theatre of China’s theatre in Beijing and will then tour across China. In August last year, the BBC War Horse Prom was staged at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the centenary commemorations of World War One.
