MALEVO at the Peacock Theatre – Sadler’s Wells | Review

Malevo is a hugely enjoyable show performed by a talented all-male troupe who bring the heat and traditions of Argentina to the Peacock Theatre with a contemporary twist. What they do can perhaps best be described as a cross between male flamenco, an Argentinian version of Riverdance in combination with Cirque Du Soleil.Photo credit Malevo. This is the troupe’s first time in the UK though they are internationally recognised having reached the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent. The show is a showcase for the performers’ skills. As well as dance the performers also bring to the Peacock stage astonishing drumming skills, their synchronicity including when using boleados, traditionally used a bit like Argentinian lassos is stunning and exciting to watch. A live four-piece band accompanies them on stage and they are also excellent. There is no narrative, all the audience has to do is sit back and enjoy the prowess of these engaging performers.

In a blistering and exhilarating take on the traditional Argentine Malambo, Malevo brings its blazing raw talent to the UK for the very first time.
