Lost in Music is a show where it is actually encouraged to stand up out of your seats! This show is an all-out fun time.
Everyone was belting disco hits like September, Freak Out, and I will survive. The Adelphi Theatre does not have the most room for dancing, but people were still trying their best at the sold-out show. In addition to the great song selection, the performances, under the direction of Tony Wood from the wonderful vocalists Kevin Cole, Bilal Aygei, Jackie Walters, Taryn Charles, and the lively band brought the whole theatre to life.
The energy brought to the stage took it to the next level. Pair that with the fun costume changes and the disco ball changes truly like the advertised ‘one night at the disco’. When I would looked around everyone was on their feet smiling and really enjoying themselves. I saw some parents with young disco enthusiasts as well as loads of adults on a great night out.
I could tell before the show that some people were really excited to see what was in store and all seemed satisfied while leaving. Throughout the night each vocalist was highlighted with a song they led, I enjoyed seeing the differing styles of each performer. There were welcome bits of personal flair added to each iconic tune. It was evident they had a passion for performance and for disco itself. Also, Kevin Cole also was a great host. He thanked everyone involved and made the audience feel like a real part of the performance.
This kind of show is somewhat unusual, just because of the expectations one has for a West End performance. But he made it very clear what was expected at this show. Which I appreciated. He encouraged recording, dancing, and at one point everyone was swaying their phone flashlights in the air. I think that if you are looking for great fun, then Lost in Music is the show for you. Cole mentioned they hope to be back at the Adelphi Theatre next year and I can imagine another sold-out show if they are.
