Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS features a book by Tony-winning theater legend HARVEY FIERSTEIN and direction and choreography by Tony winner JERRY MITCHELL. It tells the story of Charlie Price, who inherits his father’s shoe factory. Looking to save the family business, Charlie turns to a fabulously fashionable new friend — cabaret star Lola — who gives him an outrageous idea that could change both of their destinies. Soon, this unlikely duo creates the most sensational footwear that’s ever rocked the runways of Milan… giving the factory and its hardworking family a sparkling new future.

Casting breakdown – Lola/Simon (Male leading role)
Leading role Male. Playing age early 30s. Role ethnicity Black. Height 5′ 8″ and above. An emotionally and physically challenging role requires the body of a boxer, with the soul of a Diva to play this scene-stealing drag performer. This role calls for a star. No ensemble players need apply. This is a Tony Winning role originated on Broadway by Billy porter. Must have a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops. Comfortable to A/B, with one top C in “Land of Lola”.

Casting Breakdown – Angels (six featured Male Ensemble tracks plus MALE SWINGS (four male tracks who will cover the ANGELS).
Males. Playing age 20s – 30s. Any ethnicity. The ANGELS are the six drag performers who populate The Blue Angel Nightclub. “This ain’t a job for no wall-flowers” All will be required to dance in heels. Ideally looking for terrific dancers and singers, with tumbling, acro and tricks plus, but please do get in touch if you have a strength in one of the particular areas below:

In addition to strong dance skills, two of the Angels need to be excellent high tenors confident with high C in full voice (please note one will also cover the leading role of LOLA/SIMON.
