Edinburgh Playhouse: Expert Seating & Access Guide
For the full list of shows and performance times, visit our full Edinburgh Playhouse Venue Page.
Choosing the Best Seat:
- Legroom Seekers: In the Stalls, seat widths are approximately 40cm. If you require extra legroom, we highly recommend booking in Row L.
- Best Views for Visuals: For a closer view of the action, aim for Stalls Rows A-E. For Audio Described performances, Rows C-E are the venue’s recommended choice.
- The Balcony: This is the highest level with limited legroom and steeper seating. Note that there are no handrails in the Balcony seating area.
Mobility & Access Alerts:
- No Lift Access: Please be aware that the Edinburgh Playhouse does not have a lift.
- Level Access: The only level access is into the Circle level (street level). We recommend Circle Row M for those who need to avoid stairs (only 1 step required).
- The Stalls Challenge: Reaching the Stalls involves descending 40 steps (4 flights) from the street level entrance.
- Accessible Toilets: There is only one accessible toilet, located on the Circle Level via the Circle Bar.
Hearing & Sight Services:
- BSL Performances: The interpreter is typically positioned at Stage Left or Stage Right. We suggest seats from Row J forward for the best view.
- Hearing Enhancement: If using the venue’s Infrared System, Stalls Rows B-E are recommended for the strongest signal.
