Blithe Spirit Starring Angela Lansbury Tickets Now On Sale

In order to observe a spiritualist first-hand for a planned novel, writer Charles Condomine (Charles Edwards) and wife Ruth (Janie Dee) invite friends the Bradmans to dinner and a séance with local clairvoyant Madame Arcati (Angela Lansbury), whom they are certain is a fake.

That all changes when the ghost of his first wife, Elvira is summoned, and overstays her welcome in the following days, causing a rift between Charles and his at first disbelieving and then jealous second wife. The feuding wives, ghost and flesh, hatch plot and counter plot to sabotage each other’s and Charles’ existence but will they succeed?

Oscar-winner and five-time Tony Award-winner Angela Lansbury returns to the West End in 2014 at the Gielgud Theatre, in a new production of Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit.

She will be reuniting with director Michael Blakemore to reprise her 2009 Tony Award-winning role as Madame Arcati. With a stage and screen career crossing seven decades, Angela Lansbury is recognised by millions as the much-loved Jessica Fletcher from the TV series Murder She Wrote, as well as her many roles on Broadway, in the West End and on film.

Angela Lansbury is reprising a role that won her a Tony award on Broadway four years ago. She was last in London in 1975 playing Gertrude opposite Albert Finney’s Hamlet at the National Theatre, directed by Peter Hall.
