Entertaining Mr Sloane

Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake, Cranford, Shakespeare in Love) and Mathew Horne (Gavin and Stacey, The Catherine Tate Show), star in Joe Orton's fiendishly dark comedy for a strictly limited West End season.

It may be Swinging 60's London but out in the suburbs, Kath is lonely. Craving love and affection, plain and simple Kath and her bachelor bother, take a lodger. Soon, both become infatuated with the shady young tenant with a murky past - Mr Sloane.

Behind closed doors, a web of dark secrets, blackmail and betrayal is quickly spun, leaving Mr Sloane at the centre of an outrageous threesome in which he is a prisoner of desire and sexual jealousy.

Originally staged in 1965, Joe Orton's wickedly biting comedy sparked controversy with its mischievous peep at the hypocrisy behind the new permissive society of the 1960s and the British fascination with sex.
