Olivier award nominee Alastair McGowan is to replace Rupert Everett as Professor Henry Higgins in the West End production of Pygmalion.
McGowan, who was nominated for his performance in Little Shop of Horrors, is best known as an impressionist. He will take over the final three weeks of the show’s run, which ends on August 15th. Everett is leaving to film Parade’s End for the BBC.
Pygmalion is produced in the West End by Paul Elliott, Duncan C. Weldon, Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer for Nimax Theatres, Michael Edwards and Carole Winter for MJE Productions and the Theatre Royal Haymarket
Pygmalion started it’s run at Chichester Festival Theatre and will run at the Garrick until September the 3rd. It also stars Kara Tointon, Diana Rigg, Peter Eyre and Michael Feast.
Good news for Tony Awards host and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, he is now engaged to his boyfriend David Burtka. Congratulations to Neil and David on their forthcoming nuptials.
