What’s the show about?
It’s 1920s Hollywood. Silent movie star Don Lockwood, best pal Cosmo and best gal Kathy are doing their best to make the switch to talkies. But there’s a storm cloud on the horizon.
Don’s screechy-voiced, scheming leading lady Lina Lamont will stop at nothing in her pursuit of fame, including stealing Kathy from Don and pushing her out of the picture – literally.
From the golden age of musicals to the West End, Singin’ In The Rain brings the style and glamour of the MGM film to the Palace Theatre. Set at a time of change in the film world, Singin’ In The Rain follows silent movie star Dan Lockwood who has everything he could ever desire; including fame, adulation and even a well-publicised romance with his co-star Lina Lamont. But there are rumours of a new style of film that could alter the film industry, films where actors talk and sing and dance.
Can Don pull the plug on Lina’s plan before it washes them up completely?
A fantastic cast led by Adam Cooper, Daniel Crossley and Scarlett Strallen effortlessly summons the spirit of the great Gene Kelly MGM musical, bringing to it the kind of very special magic you only get when you’re up-close-and-personal to world-class talent in a great theatre.
Every song is a showstopper, from Good Morning to Make ‘Em Laugh and the timelessly uplifting title tune, which is performed on an incredible set that uses 14,000 litres of water to make it rain on stage at every performance.
What should I do now?
The early nights are drawing in. If you’re looking for something to make you feel happy again, Singin’ In The Rain is a perfect romantic autumn treat for you and your other half to snuggle up to.
