Elaine Paige OBE; Theatre Legend

Some actors light up the screen, but some make their mark on the stage. Becoming so successful that they become part of theatre history, part of the fabric of theatre itself. Elaine Paige is one of those actors. Page isn’t dubbed the ‘first lady of musical theatre’ for no reason. She has been on the West End and on Broadway. She played Eva Peron in Evita and created the part of Grizabella in the original production of Cats. ‘Memory’ became one of her biggest hits.

She has come a long way from Barnet and has also starred in Hair, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard and the King and I. In fact, she made her stage debut in 1964, at the age of 16, in Hair. She has been nominated for five Lawrence Olivier awards and has her own show on BBC2 Radio; Elaine Page on Sunday.

Elaine returns to the concert stage starting on the 22nd of February. She will be touring the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall. It will take music from Elaine and friends, her new album that was released in 2010. She may just be 5ft, but she certainly is a theatre powerhouse.
